MARCAR
Mountain Area Radio Control Auto Racers

MARCAR is based in Colorado Springs, CO and is dedicated to on road radio control racing.  Our main focus is on fuel cars, but we also support electric cars.  MARCAR was originally started as a fuel based club, evolved into a 1/12th scale club and has now come full circle to fuel again.

The fuel classes we race are 1/8th 4WD and 1/10th 200mm Touring.  The 200mm Touring  is our largest class due to the affordability.

Our race season typically begins in March and runs into September.  Being in Colorado, all race dates are subject to being 'weathered' out, however this happens only occasionally.

We invite you to come by and experience the thrill, excitement and fun of on road rc racing in an organized event.

RACE LOCATION

For 2007, we will be racing at OEM Parts.  If you want to know how to get to the track, check our schedule for directions.  If you need more detailed directions, contact us and we'll be happy to tell you where to go.

RACE FEES

Our race fee structure for 2007 will be as follows:
- $20.00 for non-members
- $20.00 for  members living in El Paso county - (if you DO NOT help with track set up AND tear down)
- $10.00 for  members living in El Paso county - (if you DO help with track set up AND tear down)
- $10.00 for racers living outside El Paso county - (you do not need to be a member)
- $25.00 yearly membership fee (discount for additional family members)
- $10.00 the first time you race with us (member or not)
- $8.00 for racers 16 and younger (based on above rules)
- Practice days are half price of what you would normally pay
- Second class is half price

Racers need not join the club to race, however, if you are willing to help with track set up and tear down, in only three (3) race dates, you will have saved money.
Example:
3 race dates at $20.00 (non-member price) = $60.00.
3 race dates at $10.00 (member who helps price) plus $25.00 (membership fee) = $55.00.
By race #3, you will be saving $5.00.

TRACK SETUP & TEAR DOWN

Track setup begins at 8:00 a.m. (same as 2006) and normally takes about 1 hour 15 minutes - 1 hour 30 minutes to finish.  Note that with the one hour later start, available practice time & race time will be reduced.

Track set up begins by blowing off the racing surface and erecting the outside boards simultaneously.  We begin spraying sugar water on the track after approximately 2/3 of the racing surface has been blown off.  As parts of the track are sprayed with the sugar water, we start laying out a racing design.

Every week is a different design as this provides variety throughout the year.  If we come across a particularly fun track, we may duplicate the layout later in the year.

After the race day is over, the track is disassembled and stored back in the trailer.  We will wait 15 minutes after the last race is completed before we start tearing down the track.  The 15 minutes can be used by the racers however they choose - they can pack their stuff, BS with everybody, etc., but when the time is up, it is time to go to work to disassemble the track.

All Colorado Springs racers must help with track setup AND tear down to receive the discounted entry rate.

Remember, many hands make light work, meaning, the more people who help, the easier it is.

POINT SERIES'

For 2007, we will run two point series.  We will drop your worst race and count the remaining races.  We will award prizes or cash for placing in the top 5 in a series (provided there were enough cars racing in enough of the series races).  Check our schedule for specific dates for each series.
