MARCAR
Race Notes

August 13, 2000

Another nice day for racing in Colorado Springs.  We had 30 entries today with 8 being brand new to us.

The .12 Touring class came down to a shoot-out between Nigel Cass and Anders Snorteland.  Both were coming off good races at the Region Championships last week.  In the end, Nigel bested Anders to claim TQ.  Dan Fong ended up as the third qualifier followed by two new people, Pal Rowley and Tim Shelton.

In the 1/8th 4wd class, Sal DiFazio snatched the top spot in the first round of qualifying.  He was followed by Robert Ronas, Jim Leonard, Mark Klenin and Rich Lewerke.  Rich has been running pretty consistent as of late.

The .12 Touring B Main was dominated by Chris Peeples.  Chris had a bad day qualifying but ran a good main.  Tom Riggin and James Blampied followed Chris across the line to take 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

In the 1/8th 4wd B Main, Steve Tesnear showed the way to make it around the track as he took his first main event win.  Dan Fong brought it home in 2nd and Darren Dill (who had more qualifying problems) followed in 3rd.

The .12 Touring A Main continued to be a battle between Nigel Cass and Anders Snorteland until Nigel had a couple of 'incidents.'  Anders went on for the win, followed by Pal Rowley and Nigel.  Nicholas Moore and Martin Allen rounded out the top 5.

In the 1/8th 4WD A Main, Sal DiFazio took the early lead until a board hurt his car.  Robert took over the lead and held it to the end.  Sal repaired his car and got back in the race to hunt down Mark Klenin for 2nd and relegate Mark to 3rd.  Rich Lewerke and Jim Leonard completed the top 5 positions.

You can check out the points standings for the .12 Touring cars and 1/8th 4WD for the first week of our third series.

Our next race will be on August 20, 2000.  See our schedule for details.
