MARCAR
Race Notes
July 9, 2000
What a great day for racing in the Rockies. 34 entries today, our highest total yet! Looking over the points sheet for the second points series, if everyone who has raced at least one race with us showed up on the same day, we'd have 60 cars.
The .12 Touring class was once again chasing Vincent 'TQ' Ringler. Vincent's been showing the way around the track lately, and today was no different. Close behind, very close, was George Foye'. George's car was absolutely blazing on the straight and he drove nice lines in the infield. Rounding out the top 5 were Anders Snorteland, Nigel Cass (back from an extended break) and Chris Peeples, respectively. Chris has been running fast and consistently as of late.
In the 1/8th 4wd class, Sal's string of TQs was finally broken by Robert Ronas. Sal still managed to snag the second spot but not without a fight from Davy Preston. Davy's back racing and looking fast. The fourth and fifth spots were occupied by Trey Lecky and Mark Klenin, respectively.
The .12 Touring B Main was dominated by Nick Figgie, a young new racer with us. Nick finished several laps ahead of Josh Hofmann (another 'newbie') and Nicholas Moore.
In the 1/8th 4wd B Main, Darren Dill was out to show that he really belonged in the 'A' main and he did just that, putting in a wire-to-wire win. Darren had minor problems all day that he finally got solved for the main event. Steve Tesnear and Keith Wagner had quite a battle going on for second place with Steve prevailing in the end as Keith tried to stretch his fuel mileage and didn't quite make it.
The .12 Touring A Main was interesting right from the start as a few of the faster cars didn't make the start of the race. TQ Vincent and 3rd qualifier Anders both got a late start but both worked their way to the front of the pack. Vincent had the lead but ran out of fuel in the last minute to allow Anders by for the victory. Martin Allen, Tom Riggin and Dan Fong all ran a nice, consistent race to finish within a lap of each other and take the 3rd, 4th and 5th spots, respectively.
In the 1/8th 4WD A Main, Robert hit a board at the start dropping him to 5th and Sal, Davy, Trey and Mark all motored by. Prior to the first fuel stop, Trey had a spectacular, out-of-the-track wreck. Later, Sal also had a hard wreck. In the meantime, Robert, Davy and Mark were putting in the laps. Trey and Sal both got back in the race to finish 4th and 5th, respectively. Robert took the win with Mark holding off Davy at the end to take 2nd and keep Davy in 3rd.

Our next race will be on July 16, 2000. See our schedule for details.
