Race Notes
July 16, 2000
Another nice day for racing in Colorado Springs, not so hot and only briefly interrupted by a rain shower. This week's report is a little more abbreviated as I was too tired to remember much about the day.
In the .12 Touring class, Vincent Ringler's TQ streak was ended by Blaine Schubarth. Blaine showed the fast way around the track all day. He was followed by Anders Snorteland, Vincent, George Foye' and the back-to-racing Nigel Cass.
In the 1/8th 4wd class, Davy Preston was showing the way around. He was followed very closely by Sal DiFazio. Robert Ronas, Trey Lecky and Darren Dill rounded out the top five. Darren finally had a little luck and ran very well.
In the 1/8th 4wd B Main, Jeff Bennett (from Albuquerque) led almost the whole race. Dan Fong kept it together to take the second spot with Steve Tesnear rounding out the top three.
The .12 Touring A Main was no runaway for anyone. Nigel held the lead much of the way but, in the closing minutes, Vincent was making a hard charge to catch him. Vincent didn't quite catch up but did end up in 2nd, six seconds behind Nigel. Chris Peeples ran a nice race to bring it home in 3rd, followed by Blaine and Dan Fong.
In the 1/8th 4WD A Main, Davy got a clean start. Sal and Robert both went on their lids on the first lap, dropping them back. They made their way back to 2nd and 3rd, respectively before Robert had a few problems and ended up in 5th spot. Davy kept it clean and fast and was able to hold off Sal, who ended up 2nd. Jim Leonard finally got it together again to bring home a nice 3rd position, followed by Trey Lecky in 4th.
You can check out the final points standings for the .12 Touring cars and 1/8th 4WD for our second series.
Our next race will be on July 29 &
